9-26-2020 Kamala Harris, U.S. Junior Senator from California since 2016, is the Democrat nominee for Vice President.
As the daughter of a Jamaican father and a Tamil Indian mother, Harris grew up in Canada. Harris' political career includes being San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General.
Kamala Harris tried unsuccessfully to run for president along with 19 other Democrats in 2019, exiting the race in December. She is only the third female ever named as a Vice President candidate, the other two being (D) Geraldine Ferraro and (R) Sarah Palin.
Here are Kamala Harris' policies according to what she said during debates and to the media:
- 2nd Amendment Rights: While running for POTUS, she promised to take executive action on gun control if Congress didn’t act within the first 100 Days. She says she wants "mandatory buybacks".
- Supports sanctuary cities
- Co-sponsor of the Green New Deal
- Co-sponsored Bernie Sanders' single-payer Medicare-for-all
- Voted against the Tax Cuts And Jobs Act
- Voted against limiting abortions to first 20 weeks
- Says she would ban fracking and off-shore drilling (which would make the US more dependent on foreign oil again)
- Eliminate private prisons and mandatory minimum sentences
- She has supported a ban on evictions and foreclosures during the pandemic and proposed sending as much as $2,000 to people every month.
- Wants to decriminalize illegal border crossings and compared ICE to the KKK.

Trump and Biden far apart on illegal Immigration, prison inmates, carbon emissions, school choice
June 15, 2020 “It’s probably never been a time when candidates are so different,” Trump said during a press conference in the Rose Garden of the White House. We want strong closed borders with people able to come in through merit, through a legal process; they don’t want to have any borders at all.”
Here is the list of Biden’s proposals, drawn from the transcript of the president’s press conference:
1) Abolish immigration detention. No more detention. You come in here illegally, no more detention.
2) Stop all deportation.
3) End prosecution of illegal border crossers.
4) Support sanctuary cities.
5) Incentivize illegal-alien child smuggling & drug smuggling by allowing illegal border crossings
6) Expand asylum for all new illegal aliens.
7) Cancel all asylum cooperation agreements with Honduras, Guatemala, with El Salvador.
8) Taxpayer-funded lawyers will be given to all illegal aliens.
9) Abolish immigration enforcement against illegal workers.
10) Restore Catch and Release policies for illegals.
11) Grant work permits for illegal aliens.
12) Provide taxpayer subsidies and welfare for illegal aliens and new immigrants.
13) Federal Student Aid and free community college for illegal aliens.
14) Sign new immigrants up for welfare immediately.
15) End requirement for immigrants’ self-sufficiency and maximize their welfare.
16) End all travel bans, including from jihadist regions.
17) Grant mass amnesty.
18) Vastly expand low-skilled immigration to the United States.
19) Increase refugee admissions by 700 percent.
20) End cash bail.
21) Abolish completely the death penalty.
22) End mandatory minimums.
23) Incentivize prison closure.
24) End solitary confinement.
25) Free federal housing for former inmates.
26) Rejoin Paris Climate Accord. FACT: Congress never agreed to Obama's signing of the Paris Climate Accord!
27) Mandate net-zero carbon emissions for homes, offices, and all new buildings by 2030.
28) Mandate zero carbon emissions from power plants by 2035.
29) Mandate all 500,000 school buses and all 3 million government vehicles be changed to zero-emission vehicles within five years.
30) Install 500,000 taxpayer-funded charging stations nationwide.
31) End school choice and abolish all charter schools.
32) End tax credit scholarships serving disadvantaged students in 26 states.
33) Force middle class and upscale neighborhoods to accept Section 8 housing (thus lowering home values in those neighborhoods).
“There has never been an election where we’ve had this kind of difference,” Trump said.
